About European Roulette

European roulette is a variation of the classic casino table game roulette and is the most well renowned version of the game.

Initially invented in France in the 17th century, it is sometimes referred to as French roulette. The game consists of players having to place bets on a table to determine which section of the wheel the ball will land on once it has finished spinning on the wheel. It is one of the most popular casino table games in the world and offers some of the best odds of defeating the house.

The numbers on the wheel range from 1 to 36 with an additional section taken for the number 0. The numbers are divided up into a 50-50 split of red and black colours except for the 0 that is a green colour. The 0 is sometimes referred to as the "house number" because it is added to the wheel to give the casino a small edge over the players.

The table that players place bets on is divided up into a number of sections. Players can place bets on whether they think the ball will land on a specific number or they can opt for more general bets. These bets could include betting on whether the ball will land on an even or odd number, if the ball will land on one of the first 18 numbers (1-18) or one of the second 18 numbers (19-36), or if the ball will land on a red or black number.

For those players that are more willing to take a risk there is also the chance to place multiple bets or cover a number of possible outcomes. There are several names for these bets such as a "split" for when two adjoining numbers on the table are selected, a "corner" for when four adjoining numbers are selected, or even a "column" for when a whole line of numbers are chosen.

European roulette has long been a regular on the casino floors across the globe and its popularity has made the successful transition to online gambling over recent years.
