Use the terminology section to learn the game's jargon. It will be of great use to you when you start playing the game. Here are the main phrases and terms associated with the game of Roulette.

Layout: the betting area of the Roulette table.

European Roulette: a variation of the game, where the layout includes numbers 1-36, 0.

American Roulette: a variation of the game, where the layout includes numbers 1-36, 0, 00.

Croupier: a dealer.

Action: placing a bet.

Payout: money reward to winners. Calculated as a multiple of the initial bet.

Odds: chances to win a bet.

Casino/house edge: potential profit margin of the casino.

Inside bet: are placed inside the net of numbers. Combinations are created by placing the bet in the intersections of neighboring numbers.

Inside bets include:

Straight up: a single number. Payout: 1-35.

Split: two neighboring numbers. Payout: 1-17.

Street: three horizontally neighboring numbers. Payout: 1-11.

Corner: four neighboring numbers. Payout: 1-8.

Outside bets: are placed by using the additional betting fields, positioned around the net of numbers.

Outside bets include:

Line: six numbers, placed in any neighboring rows. Payout: 1-5.

Columns: 12 numbers placed in any of the columns. Payout: 1-2.

Dozens: 1-12, 13-24, 25-36. Payout: 1-2.

1-18, 19-36: 18 lower or higher numbers. Payout: 1-1.

Odd/even:18 odd or even numbers. Payout: 1-1.

Red/black: 18 red or black numbers. Payout: 1-1.
